What is DMX RGBW LED Strip Light?

DMX RGBW LED Strips are pixel-programmable flexible strips that are controlled directly using DMX512 signals through the software of your choice. The strip can be controlled directly from a DMX console or controller without the need for a DMX to SPI converter or decoder. The four color chips of red, green, blue, and white (3000K/6000K) can be mixed. This additional white LED allows the strip to offer a wider range of color combinations and the ability to produce pure white light without mixing the colors, which is critical for certain applications such as task lighting or creating a more natural ambiance.

What is DMX and DMX IC?

DMX stands for Digital Multiplex, a communication protocol commonly used in stage lighting and special effects that allows control of individual lights or groups of lights for precise control of brightness, color, and effects. DMX RGBW LED strips are strips that use an IC with this communication protocol to address each or every 4-in-1 RGBW LED.

DMX RGBW LED strips usually use external DMX512 ICs such as TM512 or UCS512, which are actually similar in function, and the package types are classified into SOP-16 and SSOP10, with the appearance of 16-pin and 10-pin. As shown in the figure:

What are the advantages of DMX RGBW LED strip lights?

1. Breakpoints continue to transmit: with A, B parallel signal transmission, no matter how many points on this line are bad, the rest will work normally, such as a 300-lamp strip. Even if the bad 299 lamps are bad, the remaining 1 lamp will still work normally, without the influence of other pixel points.

2. Transmission distance: Because the DMX IC signal has a stronger anti-interference ability, in the case of using the same ultra-five cable, the SPI RGBW colorful light strip has only 10 meters of transmission distance; the DMX RGBW light strip can be transmitted 200 meters or even 500 meters.

3. Professional-level control: with the universal standard DMX512 protocol, many controllers can be controlled; you can also use many lighting effects software to control, such as Madrix and BlenderDMX.

What is RGBW LED Strip Light?

RGBW LED Strips are strips made with RGBW 4-in-1 5050 LEDs. 4-in-1 RGBW 5050 LEDs use the latest LED technology to encapsulate a 4-color LED chip (red, green, blue, and white) in a SMD5050 LED bead holder. RGBW LED strips produce RGB color-changing lighting and white light illumination, producing better color rendering when using white light and a more diffused appearance when used with a diffuser.

RGBW LED strips are generally categorized into RGBWW (RGB+Warm White) LED strips and RGBCW (RGB+Cool White) LED strips.
